Introduction to the organization

Not Guilty for Family Development is an NGO that is holding a nationwide campaign aimed at abolishing sexual harassment and sexual abuse through many venues: media, education, Training of Trainers (TOT), and counseling. We believe that prevention is better than treatment. Not Guilty started January 2011. Not Guilty will be creating educational school books for kids , media productions for parents and training material for teachers, parents and grandparents to reach 50 million people with quality materials against sexual abuse within the next 10 years.

Overall Goal

Our vision is to provide the best training, educational and prevention materials on sexual abuse through books, media and training of trainers to abolish sexual abuse in Egypt within the next 10 years. Our goal is people working together to raise the awareness of the community to the threat and consequences of sexual abuse, through books, media and training in order to abolish sexual abuse in Egypt within the next 10 years.

Specific Objectives

All the following objectives aim together to reach the above-mentioned goal. However this concept paper focuses on the first two objectives, being a pilot project of Training of Trainers as well as the use of Not Guilty books with children by the trainers. Training of Trainers against sexual abuse. Our target is training teachers, social workers, people dealing with youth, caretakers at orphanages, doctors, police officers, parents, teens and kids about abuse so that they in turn would be able to notice signs of abuse early on, to propagate the methods of protection and to react correctly to reported cases. This TOT is a pilot project. According to receptivity of trainers and their propagation of the training they received, we will be doing more training of trainers. Not Guilty books, one for boys and one for girls for ages 3 to 10 years old, to teach children how to say NO. These books are to be read with the children by an adult whether a teacher, a parent or a grandparent. These books are a great tool as part of the school curriculum to nip the problem at the bud instead of waiting for the abuse to happen. TV episodes about sexual abuse explaining who is more prone to abuse, who is the abuser, the signs, and effects of abuse and how to protect ourselves and our children from abuse. Hosts for episodes: Dr. Laila Risgallah and Mohamed Diab. Teaching for parents, teachers, teens and kids about abuse. Counseling of survivors of sexual abuse and its consequences.

What is our benchmark:

Not Guilty will be training 200 trainers a year. Every trainer will be expected to train at least 100 people. This means that every year 20,000 will be reached. In the 3 years of the project, Not Guilty would have reached at least 60,000. This does not include the effect of the episodes when aired or the children books on kids.
